PAMGUARD stores it's configuration in a PAMGUARD Settings File, or psf. You select
the psf file you want to use each time you start PAMGUARD.
The settings files contain information on which modules should be
loaded, how they relate to one another and how they are configured.
psf files are generally quite small and can easily be emailed between users.
The PAMGUARD development team endeavour to ensure that psf files are compatible
between PAMGAURD releases. So when you upgrade to a new PAMGUARD version, you can
keep working with your old configuration.
Unfortunately, all PC's tend to be configured slightly differently, so it's almost
impossible to present a user with a psf file which is guaranteed to work for them.
For instance, standard psf files will be configured to read NMEA and GPS data
from com port 1, but the user may have their GPS connected to a different com port.
The psf files available here are therefore only simple examples and the user is will almost
definitely have to check the settings of all modules which interact directly with
the outside world themselves.
